The deer population in the last 25 years or
so has plummeted and has been steadily increasing through
the last five years or so. I have seen a lot more deer within the last three to
five years. I am
hopeful lately that the populations will stabilize but in a recent newsletter
the deer populations have been infected up, to 60 % with wasting disease in the
northwestern portion of the state of Colorado. These Bucks are looking really healthy to me
but I am no expert. But it sure is nice to see Bucks in Bachelors groups like
this again. This is the most hopeful time for a rebound but only time will tell
of the effects of wasting disease. The numbers coming back are definitely a good
sign. This montane ecosystem is definitely a most beautiful jewel. These bucks
are only a part of the magnificent web.
It
is undoubtedly a gift to see a herd of “Browsing
Bachelors”
Hope you like it-
