“Courting Cows”

This very respectable bull Elk is courting
his cows. He has no doubt been fighting and jousting for his harem when the
local bulls his size come along and challenge him. His harem is on constant
watch from him. Some bulls try to sneak in on the cows and the herd bull will
turn and run them off. This bull is
in full swing or in other words he is in Rut. It is mating season again and the
fall grasses are turning golden. Elk and the other subspecies of the red deer
mate this time of year. You can find Muley bucks with does and white tail bucks
with does, Moose bulls with cows. The mating of the cows will ensure survival of
the species with all of the newborn young next spring and summer.
It
is my hope that we may always have a place where we can go to see the amazing
bull elk – “Courting Cows” Hope you enjoy it
